Pistachio Basque Cheesecake

That the birthday boy absolutely hated.

Last week we celebrated my husband Abduls birthday, which happens to fall on the same weekend as Mothers day and our anniversary. So I thought after 10 years of marriage and 12 years of being together what better way to celebrate than with a cake that I love! Right?! Wrong! Abdul had one spoon and said he was not a fan at all, and the girls followed suit. Now in my defence I could have sworn they had had basque cheesecake before and loved it or maybe I was just imagining it.

Anyway I had back up for them in the freezer, trusty old Sara Lee frozen chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream.

This cake is so delicious and utterly indulgent, but no, for those of you wondering, I didnt eat the whole thing on my own. I gave some to Mum and the other half to the lovely office ladies at my daughters school who sent me the kindest email thanking me. I must say though, I do also love a slice of good ol’ Sara Lee chocolate cake with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream!
